Prof. Chris Kimber
Chris Kimber was educated at Peninsula Grammar School and attended Monash University medical School. He has had a number of reputable achievements and received numerous honourable prizes such as the Monash Medical Centre Surgical Research Prize and more recently the Williamson Leadership Fellowship in 2007.

Chris is a passionate traveller who has worked in a number of countries as a surgeon whilst undertaking research tasks. He worked at the department of surgery at Dundee University in Scotland and was a reader in Paediatric Surgery at Oxford University in Oxford. In Great Ormond Street Hospital London he was a visiting senior paediatric surgical registrar. In Dunedin Hospital, Dunedin New Zealand, Chris was a General Surgical Registrar where he gained two years of general and cardiac experience. Chris travelled to Tumutumu Hospital in Tumutumu Kenya as a medical superintendent where he gained experience working in third world medicine. In Dundee in August 1997 Chris was appointed as faculty for the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh Advanced Courses in Dundee. There Chris taught a number of courses and designed and implemented endoscopic courses at Dundee.

Among his travels Chris regularly travels interstate and overseas to attend conferences and seminars and he has applied his extensive knowledge to paper writing both journals and medical books. Chris is currently Head of Paediatric Urology at Monash Medical Centre and Southern Health and Head of Paediatric Surgery at Monash Medical Centre and Southern Health. He is the co-coordinator of Video Urodymanics service Southern Health and Consultant Paediatric Urologist and General Surgeon at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Chris currently visits metropolitan and country hospital and consults privately at Cabrini Hospital. Chris has been appointed state Clinical lead at The Department of Human Services state level.
Chris is passionate about life; he enjoys travel, sports the arts and spending time with his family.


A/Prof Kiarash Taghavi

A/Prof Kiarash Taghavi
Kiarash graduated from the University of Otago and is a fully qualified surgeon under the auspices of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). Throughout his training he has worked at centres of excellence across Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne) and New Zealand (Auckland, Wellington). Following this he completed post-fellowship work in Paediatric Urology at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. He has also visited surgical centres across the UK and Europe, including Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, and Hôpital Necker-Enfants in Paris.
Kiarash works as a specialist Paediatric Urologist at Monash Children’s Hospital, and is an Associate Professor with the Department of Paediatrics at Monash University.

Kiarash has published 50 peer reviewed journal articles and nine book chapters. He has completed post-graduate degrees in surgical anatomy (with distinction), paediatrics and clinical education. He is regularly an invited speaker both domestically and internationally in topics relating to Paediatric Urology.

Kiarash has been a member of the Board of Paediatric Surgery, and is currently an examiner in “Anatomy and Embryology” for RACS. He holds membership to the European Society for Paediatric Urology, British Association of Paediatric Urologists and Hypospadias International Society. He is an editor for the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, and Frontiers in Urology (Paediatric, Adolescent and Developmental Urology section).
Kiarash recognises each child is an individual, and tailors his advice to each families circumstances and preferences. He treats every child as if they were his own, and is always updating his approaches to reflect the most up-to-date evidence.

As well as being an enthusiastic children’s surgeon, Kiarash also performs regularly as a violinist.
